Ryan Gosling was born on November 12th 1980 in London, Ontario. The son of Thomas and Donna Gosling, his career as an actor started from an early age. At twelve he got his first TV part on the Disney Channel’s Mickey Mouse Club. Fellow cast members included Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. During his two years on the program he spent six months living with the family of his friend and co-star Justin Timberlake.
In the following years he appeared in a number of films, including “The Believer” where he won critical acclaim for his role as a Jewish neo-Nazi. However, he first came to the attention of the wider public in 2004 in the romantic drama “The Notebook”.
Since then he’s gone on to star in a string of successful Hollywood films including The Ides of March, Drive and Gangster Squad. As well as being an accomplished actor he is widely recognised as a style icon. In recent years he has dominated the red carpet with his signature slim cut suits.
Unlike many of his contemporaries he’s as stylish dressing casually as he is in a dinner jacket. So what can we learn from this modern day style icon? Gosling shows it pays to keep things simple. You don’t need complicated outfits with competing focal points. Simple, well thought out combinations work just as well. He also shows the importance of man’s silhouette. Here are two things we can all do to emulate him. Firstly, only buy well cut clothes that fit our body type and secondly, spend a little more time down the gym.
