One might think that a bespoke tailored suit and a premium whisky have little in common, but those at Chivas and the Savile Row Bespoke Association clearly disagree. They have come together to celebrate the skill and craftsmanship that is required in their respective fields and the heritage both the Savile Row Bespoke Association and Chivas share.
To mark the launch of this partnership, Chivas and the Savile Row Bespoke Association celebrated in style at the suitably named Sartoria on London’s Savile Row, long with some of the Row’s most celebrated tailors. Also in attendance were some exceedingly stylish celebrities, including David Gandy, George Lamb, Patrick Grant, Jack Guinness, and Jade Parfitt.
In honour of the event, Chivas created three specially concocted cocktails – all benefiting from Chivas 12’s rich, rounded flavour. The ‘Cocktail Cuff’, ‘Chivas Three Piece’, and the ‘Savile Row Classic’ all tasted fantastic, however, for those who preferred their Scotch neat, Chivas Brand Ambassador Phil Huckle was on hand in the ‘Craftsmanship Room’ to offer tasting notes on the 12, 18, and even the award winning and limited release 25 years.
Also in the ‘Craftsmanship Room’ was a cutting table where tailors from Savile Row demonstrated their skills with the chalk and shears, and guests were encouraged to try their hand at pattern cutting.
The highlight of the evening was the Savile Row evening wear salon show, presented by menswear stylist and writer Tom Stubbs. The show featured suiting from classic Savile Row tailors such as Gieves & Hawkes, Hardy Amies, and Anderson & Sheppard, whilst the styling was considerably more contemporary and the models fashionable hirsute.
Guests took to the dance floor as radio presenter George Lamb performed a set including many 80s classics.
This was only the first in a number of events that aim to emphasise the similarities that are shared by the Savile Row Bespoke Association and Chivas. Their values are very much reflected their mutual commitment to craftsmanship and quality, and this will no doubt prove to be a successful and long-standing partnership.
