Tom Cridland – UK Designer on Kickstarter
Tom Cridland is a young UK designer who via the power of Kickstarter is launching his range of quality, brightly coloured trousers in the US. Are his trousers (or pants for our American cousins) any good? Find out here.
Kickstarter is a fascinating place where you can find all manor of interesting projects on the go at any time you care to visit, but I am no idle voyeur having backed many project. I am also a sucker for backing British products that would appeal to the discerning gentleman. Enter Tom Cridland, the 24 year old menswear designer and the name behind this new and interesting brand.
Tom has created a range of trousers in very vibrant colours that have been inspired by country of Portugal where the trousers are made. Electric Blue, Seville Orange, Pink Panther, Green Goblin and Chilli Red are amazing, but the classic Navy, Camel and funkily named Rolling Stone ensure there really is something for everyone.
‘This is a labour of love for me. I’m 24, started the business with a small government loan and it’s been steadily growing ever since. This Kickstarter campaign could make or break my first collection!’
Having got my hands on a pair, what can I tell you about them? Well they really are very well made. The fabric feels thick and durable without being too heavy or uncomfortable. The detailing is nice especially the fastening arrangement that gives the air of quality without being too in your face.
The fit is ok for me, but at a meagre 5′ 9″ tall, I think the regular fitting is more suited to someone 5′ 10″ or above, which I am sure is fine for the majority of men out there. For those who are even taller there is a long fitting to suit them perfectly. Of course the length is something that will be quickly resolved with a trip to the alterations tailor. Waist sizes available are 30, 32, 34, 36, 38 & 40. You can choose between Regular (32.5″) or Long (34″) in length.
Clearly it’s not just me who is excited about Tom’s new venture, Mr David Evans of Grey Fox fame has posted his support for Tom and soon Wolf and Badger will be stocking them. All proof that Tom has a recipe for stylish trousers and I hope this is just the beginning. If like me you want to see Tom Cridland become the next British designer to make it on both sides of the Ocean, then do as I did and back them on Kickstarter too. I know Tom would appreciate your support. link to Kickstarter
